8 Things to Do in Durham Before 2019

Posted by Discover Durham Staff on Nov 30, 2018 11:48:59 AM

Although 2019 is swiftly approaching, there are still plenty of events for all ages to enjoy in Durham before the end of the year. Folks tall and small can tell Santa exactly what’s on their Christmas lists, while holiday parties, seasonal performances, and cultural celebrations abound in the final days of December.

Estimated read time: 3 minutes

1. Sledding, snow, and Santa: explore the Durham Holiday Parade and Fun Fest

Find a spot along the Durham Holiday Parade route in Downtown Durham on December 8. Bands, vendors, local mascots, and Santa will make appearances as the highlights of the evening. Later, go to the American Tobacco Campus at 1pm for Fun Fest. Delight in snow sledding, an arts and crafts area, community care corner, and holiday vendors.

2. All aboard! Take a holiday ride at the Museum of Life + Science

The entire month of December is filled with opportunities for the whole family to enjoy the final days of the year at one of Durham's most intriguing attractions. The 41st Annual Santa Train experience is complete with a skate-in-your-socks “ice” skating rink, hot chocolate, face painting, crafts, and of course – a moonlit train ride to the North Pole to greet Santa.
